HyperDA can dial a phone number through the Mac's built-in speaker or through a Hayes-compatible modem.

You would use the dial command in your own stacks (or the stacks supplied with HyperDA).  

The syntax for the dial command is:
    dial [source]
    dial [source] with modem
    dial [source] with modem "[modem string]"

Examples:
dial "602-844-2199" -- dial this number
dial card field 2 -- dial contents of card field 2
dial selection -- dial the current text selection
dial  "1411" with modem -- dial through modem
dial  "1411" with modem  "ATS0=0S7=1DT"  -- modem tone dial, default
